Next BWP meeting

Our next scheduled BWP meeting is October 14, 2006, 10:00 to 12:00. Plan to pick up your copy of the BWP 2006 S.I. Anthology at that time! We have the 2nd Saturday of each month scheduled for meetings. Every other month the meetings will include continuity support for the summer institute, a requirement of the grant that covered our tuition this past summer. Please plan to attend. The winter conference will be held in February, watch for details. Our meeting on September 9th was productive and supportive. Some of the ideas for future meetings include collaborating on writing lessons and on writing samples of current students. We were able to talk with Scott via phone conference and listen to podcasts from Janelle and Cobe, our website developer. Please take the time to find and listen to their podcasts. I am heading up the grant search and application process, so if you have suggestions or recommendations please share. Thanks to Barbara for posting the resource on proposal development. We are in need of as much support with our continuity meetings as possible. If you have a few hours each month to spare please let me or Jeaninne know. Let's keep connected and support each other in our personal and professional writing growth. Be sure to check out the technology class offered that is an online , self paced format. There is no fee! The information is availble earlier on our blog in a post from Scott. Katherine

Hello all, your meeting today sounds like it was both informative and energizing!

Jeannine and I have been talking, and one resource to keep in mind: my office could arrange for a WebEx session (online, chat, audio, app sharing) for the BWP group when that makes sense. That way, everyone connects via the net to meet, watch a presentation or software demo, share work on a Word document or other task.

Jeannine and I both agree that face-to-face meeting time is very important too, but since the BWP group is already so "wired" in their mission, I wanted to throw th WebEx idea in!

Sounds like a great idea. I have done something similar with a Kamico rep a few months back using another program. I look forward to it.

I think this sounds like a terrific way to keep us conneced. Instead of a FedEx office in our village, we could have a Webex office!!!!!!!!!!! Communication Central!

Thank you Katherine for this information and "minutes." I'm actually going to print this followup dialogue for our hard copy Continuity notebook. (Then we report it all back on line to Inverness, our evaluation agency) (Pete have you looked at the Inverness site and seen how they collect data?) If you go to http://www.writingproject.org and resources for site leaders, I think there is a link to their data on us.

That might be something to consider for the TWP program.

Also, I heard a strong need for a "safe space" to share challenges and successes and have an opportunity to be a mentor or mentee. We are looking into this now. More later!!!!!!!!!!

THANKS to all of you who came, shared, felt renewed, and helped us feel fewned--No longer Blue--like the book Joyce shared.

    Scott,

Do you know how to write into our calendar on the village site? Has Cobe shared that with you yet? Is that something any of the leadership could do?

I'm thinking we need to get our impt dats on the calendar in the village.
