Log for July 12, 2007: Team Weather Forecasts

Create a "weather forecast" a la Elbow and write a script "showing" what happened yesterday at our SI. Use weather terms and discourse. Also predict the weather today. Give your writing team a name (city name--be creative) and create a forecaster personna which represents the writers on your team! Have fun! Be creative, whimsical, funky, but "show" what happened yesterday and what you expect to happen today!

Hi, this is Windy Storm reporting for the Four Seasons weather channel.

To reacap, Wednesday morning started out hazy--The Missing Piece Meets the Big O was a bit abstract--with no clear interpretation. However, the morning became sunny and bright with the light-hearted memory writing.

A few light showers blew in with the Conferences, especially for those of us who needed to revamp our writing. However, the afternoon was sunny and breezy with the snapshot and thoughshot writings.

The forecast for Thursday includes scattered storms, some possibly severe, in the morning at the technology lab. However, we expect the clouds to dissipate and we will enjoy a sunny and very pleasant afternoon.

    Yesterday's Forecast at La Playa:
There were clear skies and it was a bright sunny morning. I'm sure many of you all enjoyed the sand and rolled around. Hope you didn't forget your sunblock- the rays were intense during conferences! Hope you didn't forget your shades as the winds of memory lane breezed about. The sunset yesterday was beautiful- hope you brought your camera to snap a shot! All in all, it was a beautiful day in La Playa.

    Today's forecast-
Be prepared- although it should be sunny- strong winds could appear. Hurricane Technology could rear its ugly head. But, then, this is La Playa- so anything can happen!

Have a great day- and enjoy La Playa!

    Christina and Heather

Weather here at UTASI yesterday was sunny with clear skies. Clouds dispersed when students conferenced with their instructors. Winds and clouds picked up in the afternoon when students began revision on their critical incident narratives. More thunderbumpers are expected today when Scott Massey teaches podcasting in the DMZ! Clearing at noon expected upon completion of podcasting and partly sunny expected in the afternoon as students return to draft devision. Temps comfortable in the 70s.

    Party Picktown

Here in party picktown the party pickers anticipate a delightfully bright-filled day for the morning commute.

Yesterday morning, the weather proved to be perplexingly cloudy with a slight overcast of the lingering PowerPoint presentation.

Later in the afternoon, the day brightened with the reflection of a memory, which caused the temperature to pleasantly soar. A nice breeze blew in with the thoughtshot activity.

As nightfall approached, the party picktowners returned home to a sweet breeze of new writing techniques wafting through the air as they looked upon the twinkling stars.

You’re watching WIMOK. Your first in H-Town news.

Now, it’s time for the weather report. Before we look at today, let’s recap yesterday’s weather events.

The day started out sunny with a few clouds looming on the horizon as we reviewed the day before.

Then, the temperature got warmer and the clouds dissipated. We read the story “The Missing Piece Meets the Bog O,” wrote our own questions about the story, and responded to the question of our choice

The wind picked up and bustled us along as we worked on our independent projects. We had free time to work on our stories, conference with facilitators, or complete our powerpoints.

Read the story “Wilber Gordon McDonald Partridge” and wrote about an item from our purses

Then, the sky darkened up as we challenged ourselves to a little revision practice. We wrote snapshots and thoughtshots for one of our pieces. It was hard. It began to rain. Thunder cracked. And then, lightening struck. We got it.

After sharing our writing we had a few minutes to debrief. The storm was allayed and a rainbow of good feelings arced over our sky.

Today, we are expecting things to be partly cloudy with a chance of meatballs when we join Scott in the DMS for a lesson on podcasting. We expect that the weather team here at WIMOK will be the ‘meatballs’ in this mini tornado. So folks, saddle up to the table with your marinara. We’re dining family style today here at WIMOK.

There was a low pressure front moving in from the Missing Piece and the Big O area, but there were just a few sprinkles where storms bubbled up. The wind shifted by the afternoon and there was a MAJOR high pressure front, bringing brilliant memories and loads of funshine by the 1:00 hour.

The day wrapped with a rainbow appearing over the UTA listening area.
